    RPM Operating Range: Idle-6500

    Idle Quality: Stock   

    Chop Scale: 1/10

    Expected Cam Swap Gains (P2P): 35 Horsepower, 25 lb/ft 

    Torque Converter Characteristics: Works great with factory converters!  

    "Drivability": Stock with more power all over, stump-pulling low end off idle.

    Notes: If you ask Brian Tooley himself what cam he'd run in his personal L83/L84 equipped truck this would be his answer. If you just want to make that 5.3 act more like it's 6.2 big brother, this is the cam for you. Improved stock powerband with an extra 500 RPM+ of range and gains everywhere, and still smooth and quiet for minimal attention. Tons of down-low torque for off-idle explosiveness.

    RPM Operating Range: 1500-6500

    Idle Quality: Minimal change in idle quality from stock, nice mild "gallop" at idle.  

    Chop Scale: 3/10

    Torque Converter Characteristics: Works great with factory converters!  

    "Drivability": Mild-mannered daily feel, with a rush of extra midrange torque past 2500 RPM.

    Notes: Here's the winner for you "stealthy" guys that want as much cam as you can get before it gets choppy. Great gains everywhere and really strong midrange punch, fantastic for working engines that spend a lot of time towing or hauling. This cam has great off-idle power and still gives you a hint of hot-rod sound without shaking the cab or surging through the converter at a higher idle.

    RPM Operating Range: 1500-6500

    Idle Quality: Healthy "cammed up" sound with lope  

    Chop Scale: 5/10

    Expected Cam Swap Gains (P2P): 51 Horsepower, 22 lb/ft

    "Drivability": OEM torque under 2500 RPM, then things really pick up.

    Notes: Engineering's pick for best L83/L84 all-around truck cam! If you want to ruffle minimal feathers on a cold start but stlll want that cammed-up presence, this is your choice. No perceivable sacrifice to stock torque down low, and explosive power in the midrange that carries an extra 1000 RPM further than the stock tachometer. This cam is great for hot driver trucks that spend more time unloaded than loaded.

    Idle Quality: Great rumble sound without sacrificing factory comforts

    Chop Scale: 6/10

    Expected Cam Swap Gains (P2P): 44 Horsepower, 25 lb/ft

    "Drivability": Mild-mannered daily feel, with a nice aggressive sound

    Notes: If you want the best all-around camshaft that will tickle the eardrums and shake traffic at the stoplights, this is the cam to pick for your usual L83/L84 engine-swap shenanigans using a mostly stock drivetrain. We spent time perfecting the MOST cam that would retain a stock valvetrain, minus a simple spring upgrade and be enjoyable to drive on a stock torque converter. Don't let the chop fool you, this cam makes tremendous down-low torque as well.

     

    BTR GEN V TRUCK STAGE 4 -

    RPM Operating Range: 2500-7000+

    Idle Quality: Aggressive and racy lope  

    Chop Scale: 7/10

    Expected Cam Swap Gains (P2P): 67 Horsepower, 20 lb/ft 

    Torque Converter Characteristics: Upgraded torque converter recommended

    "Drivability": More like hot-rod manners, really picks up around 2700 RPM and after 4000 RPM absolutely screams

    VVT Limiter: 4 Degree - Early BTR-VVT-(GENV)-4CAM orLate BTR-VVT-(GEN-VP)-4CAM

    Notes: Flycutting NOT required. This 217 intake duration cam is BTR's largest recommended offering for an L83 with unmilled cylinder heads. With just simple bolt-ons, this grind has made well over 500 fwhp in a stock bottom-end application (with an aftermarket intake). With a good converter, this camshaft can still put in work like a truck cam should.
